Red Box Review– No Strings Attached #redbox
No Strings Attached (2011– 108 mins) A. Kutcher, N. Portman
“No Strings Attached” is a straightforward and simple rom-com from fabled comedic director/producer Ivan Reitman. It’s been quite a while since he directed anything decent but I am glad to say he’s back on track with this one. What we have here are two people Emma (Portman) and Adam (Kutcher) who date and decide the best course of action is a purely physical relationship with as the title says, “No Strings Attached”. Naturally after a while, neither one of them want to keep it that way and develop feelings for each other and yet they don’t exactly want to admit it. Pretty straight forward concept and real funny execution.
Kutcher as always is likable and funny in his role. Portman is both extremely hot and also funny in hers. Those two alone make for a great movie but the supporting cast including Lake Bell, Kevin Kline, Ludacris, Greta Gerwig and Jake M. Jonhson, are excellent and extremely funny. The only thing that was a bit goofy was Kevin Kline’s role as Adam’s father but it doesn’t take long for his part to grow on you for the rest of the movie. A great movie and a good ode to the Reitman flicks of old.
Verdict–> A great rental that everyone who likes comedies should grab. A perfect date night movie… Kutcher is funny, and chicks dig him and wow does Portman look good in this movie as well. I give it a real high recommendation… in the GJ top ten for this year already.
